John Lansdown was Emeritus Professor of Computer Aided Art and Design and formerly Head of the Centre for Electronic Arts (formerly called the Centre for Advanced Studies in Computer Aided Art and Design) from September 1988 until July 1995 when he retired from full-time employment. In 1968, he was one of the founders of the Computer Arts Society and was its honorary secretary for more than 25 years.
