Kim joined Omnibus Computer Graphics as a programmer in 1985. After Omnibus bankruptcy in 1987, Kim founded Side Effects Software with Greg Hermanovic. Side Effects developed and sold PRISMS and subsequently they developed and sold Houdini 3D animation software. Kim has received two technical awards from AMPAS, as well as the J. Wesley Graham Medal in Computing and Innovation from the University of Waterloo.
